Version 4.0 of the website is being designed as I type this. I am remaking ronindms.com in flash, and it will incorporate all that I have learned since the last version of the site (html), which is getting a bit long in the tooth.
There is a shit ton of new animation/motion graphics work which will be posted that is, as of now, unseen outside of the clients they were designed for. I am looking to have a much friendlier interface, with galleries and videos all grouped in a more dynamic fashion that is easier to navigate and better to look at. Once I am completely done with 4.0, I will start adding more substance to this blog as well, which as always happens, falls by the wayside when I get busy.
The new star of the blog and website will be the organic modeling section, where I will post much new content that I am designing in mudbox and bringing to life in 3ds max and maya.
More as it comes!!

compass demo 2
Here is a quick rotation of the actual Compass model itself. Part 3 of this series, still incoming, will show the compass in exploded view, showing the individual parts come together to form the compass.

Mr. Muller's Demos Part 1

Here is a quick snapshot of the compass I have designed for eventual use in both a logo and some animation/web work.
Even though it is just a snapshot, I made a general (and short) mock up of one possible theme (of many) that I can make with the compass. My ideas for the overall animation would go far above and beyond what you see here, so consider this a taste.
I plan on having a moving demo of the compass soon (part 2), of which will be posted here as well.

Bottlenecked Art Updates
Ok, as I have previously mentioned, I have done an absolute assload of new art in the last month and a half, but I havent had any time to post it all for your viewing pleasure. A bunch of animations, broadcast graphics, and special effects galore await you. I am in the process of converting them to web video, and I will be posting the individual vids here on the blog, and editing together a brand new portfolio video montage for the real website as well, consisting of everything I have done since February. I may need to make 2 montages, as it is a lot of stuff, with very different styles to them. I will get myself into trouble and say I will have it all posted by early July. You will probably be seeing the individual vids popping up every few days before then though.
The Radiohead animation is for all intents and purposes dead in the water, but in its place I still have a few more awesome projects coming, of which I will post more info as they come about.

I Haven't Been Lazy!!
I have not had a chance to update this blog with new work in a month, and for that I apologize (even though I really am only hurting myself :) )
But I HAVE been working on new stuff. I have a whole mess of cool broadcast graphics, animations, and special fx to show. I also have a crapload of caricatures to show off as well. I have been insanely busy this last month and will continue to be so for some time. I will, however, find time to get these up here soon!!

Super Duper Final Edition of Slaughter House Pictures Bumper
After a number of mishaps involving the frying of workstation hard drives and rebuilding them from scratch, along with a couple other delays, I was forced to recut and re-edit this bumper as about a third of the data from the project was lost before I had a final copy i was happy with. Luckily, I believe this to be a superior version, with a much cooler logo to boot. Enjoy!!

Back Into Maya... -WaveBall-
There was a long stretch where the only 3d program I would use was Maya. I happened to switch schools, and AI was primarily a 3ds MAX school. In an effort to completely learn 3ds MAX, which everything 3d on this site has been made in, I shut out Maya so I could learn it more thoroughly. Now that I am on my own, I am at liberty to use both to my hearts content. While I do love using 3ds Max, especially in building polygonal models and scenes, the special effects that you can achieve in Maya , especially the latest versions, are incredible. I just made this moving ocean ball, or "waveball". I can achieve something similar in MAX, but it would take much longer than the couple minutes it took me to make this in Maya.

Slaughter House Pictures Demo
This is an animation I have that is still in production. It is to be the movie-intro for a Miami-Based horror studio called Slaughter House Pictures.
This does not contain audio just yet, nor does it have the logo-based ending yet, both are being worked on. Kepp in mind, this is internet quality, so the final product will look much better.

3d Head Demo 2: Wind and Face Animation
This demo shows off some basic facial animations such as blinking and furrowing the brow. It also shows off wind physics as whips through the hair.
3d Head Model Demo 1
Low Polygon (nice for low poly, eh?) head I made in 3ds Max. This demo shows the head itself. I came up with this model as I was modeling for characters in the radiohead animation. This will be a series as I find ways to animate and show off the model and effects.

Updates
I have been quite busy as of late. It all started with the radiohead contest animation, which i will talk about in just a bit. In the creation of a few characters and laying out the storyboards, I have realized, that even with the help of Andrew, there wasnt enough time to animate for this contest AND have it at the quality necessary for it to win, so I am still going to make it, but at my own pace. So, I will still be animating a video to the latest Radiohead album, but it wont be for the contest. The song being used currently is "Jigsaw Falling Into Place".
On the upside, some personal projects sprouted out of the creation of the assets for the animation, a few of which I will be sporadically posting on here in art round-ups in the future. I am also in the process of creating an Intro bumper animation for Slaughter House Pictures, which will be used at the beginning of their released movies.
Anyways, more as it comes, and in terms of art, there will be a lot.

Lots To Do...
Currently slaving away on the illsutrated storyboards for the Radiohead contest. 48 Boards total, so I need to keep on crackin' if I am gonna have them done by mid week. I wanted them done by today, but I won't make a sacrifice in quality for time if it only means a couple days...
I will be posting some new art up soon...

So Yeah....
I am busy setting up the guru.com account to link in with this site. Through guru I can now take electronic payments, and if I wanna pay $30 more a month to virtual terminal, I can take electronic payments on the main site as well. Once volume picks up I think I will do that, but until then, cash, money order, or business check is the way to go. If it's less than $200, I will also take personal checks. I realize that often times it is easier to write those than to go through the other options, and if it's below $200, I don't get hurt too bad if it bounces. Just please, PLEASE don't do that.
Guru.com has been having server issues this past week, so I havent been able to upload reels, which is annoying, as it is hard to compare to other freelancers if I don't have an obvious example of my work (without having to come to my website).
On the positive side, it seems in the near future, Andrew, the silent co-founder of Ronin DMS Studios, will be less silent. As in he wants to get some of his work and be available for work. Right on...

Oh Yeah!!!!
so yeah. It's done.
although you will probably figure that out on your own, since that is probably how you found this page.
I will be posting new art here soon :)
Unless I absolutely need to revamp the main website (4.0 will be a long ways away, lol), it will be a lot easier and a lot more fun to just post any and all art I do here. So expect this blog to get a lot more interesting to look at.

A New Start for Ronin DMS Studios...
To put it lightly, I was pretty much engulfed with work for about the first 4 months of the 6 I was worked at Brighthouse Networks as a commercial producer. A few of my favorite commercials I am posting on the newly redesigned website, but the result of making these commercials for them was that I was a bit too wrapped up in that studio to do really any work on MY studio.
I have left Brighthouse for what will be a "brighter" future, pun intended, with a more liberal mix of my own revived and refreshed studio work, as well as work at a new, not-to-be-mentioned-yet-studio in the near future.
Starting now, I am available for all sorts of creative works, and I will be posting news, ideas, and random works in progress here as they come.
Within a week, Ronindms.com will be viewable. I will also be linking a google calendar account to it, where I will post goals, starts, and deadlines for projects, plus I can block off time for availability.
More as it comes...
